Dark Night (Home Is A Foreign Place), Paul Klee Y Los Secretos De La Naturaleza

Datum

2022

Place

Fondació Juan Miró, Barcelona

Paul Klee y los secretos del la naturaleza (Paul Klee and the Secrets of Nature) showcases Paul Klee’s work in four sections, each of which features the work of female artists who, though having also addressed phenomenological aspects of nature, and being women, have yet to be given

the attention they deserve in the art world:

Gabriele Münter (1877–1962),

Emma Kunz (1892–1963) and

Maruja Mallo (1902–1995).

Like Klee, Sandra Knecht enjoys close ties with Bern and thus engages in a dialogue with the former: She takes a contemporary perspective on rural life and local culture, both of which are deeply connected to the landscape and to livestock farming. In her installation, Knecht also discusses the illness suffered by Paul Klee towards the end of his life, his love for his cat “Bimbo” and the subject of spiritual support when healing is no longer possible.
